    F*#k yeah!

Please tell me you didn`t use a steadycam or a dolly and shot the dolly shots from just your skates because if you didn`t then you can bitchslap all the 10000$ equipment productions because this looks and feels so damn good.

    Hall of fame trailer!

    Who was the camera chief?

[for those who will be reading and don`t know, a dolly is a moving platform on which you position a camera and sometimes even the cameraman himself, often set up on rails to achieve a smooth floating camera effect you see all the time in movies. Steadycam is a system of counterweights that a camera operator wears to compensate camera shakiness.]

absolutely staggering, the filming was bloody amazing, i think the reason most dvd series dont last is because after creating the first great product, those in charge do not commit to pushing the boundaries of themselves and others around them to keep creating groundbreaking productions, they lose the customers/there own interest and the flame is gone. i can honestly see thats no the case with the guys behind clip. thats why although im excited to go to the premier of clip 4 here in the uk next week, im even more excited for the arrival of clip 5!
    haha
    peace and great job man!

I loved clip 3 for its incredible production value, and it looks like the boys over at clip have stepped it up once more. Looks incredible. This one’s gonna be in my hand as soon as it comes out.

I thought it was there worst trailer yet….I have yet to see any of the videos….i think i might have seen clip2 actually but that is a while ago…it looked like a mediocre poorly shot snowboard video…there previous stuff has looked really diffrent and orginal this didnt at all….it was slow and boring and the shots were pretty bad, like there were some well framed shots but most of them were not at all…..there was no real “dolly” shots….all those camera moves were done in post and then smoothcam’d too ha(a new video filter in final cut 6 that allows you to digital smooth out shakey footage) ….and the framing is just so bad in most of them….like on that double set ledge in san fran….so bad….or on that handicap…I mean im not trying to say it sucked cause compared to most rollerblade stuff it was deffinetly cool but yea….people see “production value” and they get all impressed but you will get over it fast…..if anyone saw the hvx skateboard edit ty evans made you should be able to see why this shit blows….boooorringgg…..or fucking urgharts movie….jeeez…great you have a 16mm camera….does it really matter that much? and ha there production value is faked hahah smoothed cam zoomed in sonyfx1 footage….and film burns….that shit is plaaaaayyyeed. ha…..but yea clip used to be ahead of the curve now it just looks like there imitating other stuff……what happend to the fast cuts and really impressive motion graphics work…

  35. Fred Castro

    December 9, 2007 @ 07:30

At least one man had a reasonable comment, good one Jake. I totally agree with you, but its okay to give thumbs up since at least someone knows how to color correct footage, stabilize images, and do any post job of any kind. As some of us know, most of the rollerblading media is pretty poor… at least in the field of movie making, motion graphics, production and MOSTLY post-production, its just really weak… Carloz ibanes used to do some cool stuff… back in the LIFE + days…

anyways, keep up the good work CLIP guys.

    FRED

  36. Luke

    December 10, 2007 @ 11:59

    you are completely right jake.

there was no real “dolly” shots….all those camera moves were done in post and then smoothcam’d too ha(a new video filter in final cut 6 that allows you to digital smooth out shakey footage

we did not use a dolly for the ground level shots. it is pretty much impossible to carry a dolly with you over the fences onto a schoolyard if you want to be spontanous. these shots where stabalized with fcp as your professional eye noticed right away.;). maybe one day we can do better but its pretty hard if you are doing a no-budget project… thats just the way it is right now.we built a cable camera though…

it was slow and boring and the shots were pretty bad, like there were some well framed shots but most of them were not at all…like on that double set ledge in san fran….so bad….or on that handicap…

sorry you didnt like it. we are trying our best to make something out of all the footage. but i bet everyone here would like to see some of your stuff. you are very welcome to post some links.

  37. Jake Zalutsky

    December 10, 2007 @ 13:28

I have shot skating with a dolly a little….its not that hard. and we do it with streets rails in snowboarding all the time… it costs maybe like $50 (us) to make a skateboard dolly with some plywood and skateboard wheels and then you just run it on PVC…they’re pretty cool…. money doesn’t matter that much….Doug Urghart I think proved that to everyone…and thats cool your trying your best I respect that I respect what you guys are doing cause its definitely something different….criticism is made to help you get better…im not saying I know everything or that I am better then you or anything like that im just telling you what I saw and my thoughts on it since im guessing you haven’t heard much criticism at all let alone from someone who has a bit of an outside perspective and does other stuff as well…since you are pretty much the best in rollerblading and I doubt many kids are giving you guys negative feedback of any sort.

as far as my work sure if you want something to back up my words or w/e and prove I’m not some random kid who just bought his first gl1 ha.

music video for the cool kids by me and gl-joe http://youtube.com/watch?v=b34U3-CutuU

Oh man Jake, after reading your first post i was defenitley thinking you were just some little twirp who enjoys hating on anything that isn’t perfect. Then I saw that link to the snowboarding video, and I remember seeing some stuff off be-mag that you did, the motion graphics titles and stuff, and that whole video was really incredible.
I’m assuming they’ll throw in their motion graphics and the like in the final product, but you’ve got to admit that the whole thing is still a step above the norm for rollerblading videos. (aside from doug U)

Yo finaly inline video’s are trying to step it up a notch filming wise.

Cable shots are a great solution instead of using cranes and shit.
I just received this snowboard video:

    Picture This

Lots of crane and cable shots, all shot on HD Cams and even released in HD! It looks, simply put, AWESOME! Don’t know if it’s possible (budgetwise) to also release it (limited or something) on HD DVD/Blu-ray but that would be great!

    Yo!
